Sweet Nature Designs and Eco-Me® Giveaway!

November 28th, 2010 § 35

Congratulations to Laurie of Simply Scratch! I know you’ll love these!

In honor of this gift-giving season, I am proud to announce another lovely giveaway! Sweet Nature Designs and Eco Me® have been generous enough to give one of you lucky readers some awesome products from their stores!

Sweet Nature Designs is giving one of her unbleached cotton Floursack Kitchen Towels. All of her items are hand screen-printed with her original designs, and made to order, so they are completely one of a kind. Beth was sweet enough to let me choose my favorite towel design for the giveaway, and though it was a hard choice to pick a favorite, I fell in love with this black bicycle print! Her shop has all kinds of lovely goodies ranging from purses and pendants to napkins and tea towels. Her designs are all so unique and fun, and they make the perrrfect Christmas gifts and ideal stocking stuffers! Here are a few of my favorites from her store.

Eco-Me® is giving one of their 16 oz. bottles of their Suzy Dish Soap. Eco-Me® prides themselves in producing 100% natural cleaning products free of dyes, chemicals, parabens, preservatives, and synthetic fragrances. All of their products are made with food grade ingredients like vinegar, baking soda & olive oil. I love this soap because not only does it smell and clean great, but you can feel good about what’s in your home and going down your drain. They’ve become a fast favorite in my kitchen, and once you try them out I know they will in yours! Check out their store and purchase some of their sweet cleaners here! (Don’t you love how all of the cleaners have different names? I’m convinced this makes cleaning more fun.:))

Maple-Bacon Roasted Brussels Sprouts (and a few Thanksgiving dish ideas!)

November 23rd, 2010 § 11

My husband Clif doesn’t dislike much as far as food goes, but brussels sprouts are one of those things that he pretty much loathes. I on the other hand, don’t mind them much at all. I mean, I wouldn’t say I’m in love with them…but they’re alright. I’ve tried making brussels many, many ways… sauteed, boiled, steamed with all kinds of seasonings, marinades and dips but nothing has seemed to change his mind. Until yesterday. Upon spotting this recipe I had high hopes for winning Clif over with the maple-bacony goodness…and boy.. I was right on. So even though Clif won’t use the word “love” when associated with brussels sprouts, I totally know he is. He’s in love. As am I. Delicious.

Sweet Potato Pie with Gingersnap Pecan Crust

November 21st, 2010 § 3

Well, I’m back from a lovely week in Maryland with Clif’s family, and I can’t believe how close Thanksgiving is! Time has been flying by and I hardly feel prepared for the fast approaching holidays. In any case, I am very excited for some delicious food filled family time! I’m trying to compile a little list of Thanksgiving side dish ideas, so here goes one for dessert. I wanted to find something that had a traditional feel, but with a little more interest than the typical sweet potato pie. So after a little tweaking, I think I’ve got a good recipe here, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Harvest Nut Bread

November 17th, 2010 § 10

I was recently approached by the folks at ECOBAGS® about coming up with a fall bread to promote their Bread is a Gift bag, and to be featured on their website and holiday newsletter. I knew I wanted to do something fall-ish and really hearty, so after a couple of tries and tweaking, this is what I came up with. It’s loaded with oats, nuts, and cranberries, so it makes for a denser loaf. I had lots of taste testers around when I pulled it out of the oven, and it was a big hit! It definitely tastes best hot out of the oven slathered with butter. But I also toasted it the next couple of mornings and drizzled it with honey, and it made for a perfect light breakfast alongside some hot tea.:)

I’m currently visiting Clif’s family in Maryland, and I’m loving this chilly fall weather along with quality family time. Hope you all are having a great week.:)

Oven Roasted Carrots and Potatoes with Herbs

November 9th, 2010 § 10

I spotted these gorgeous purple carrots at Whole Foods last week and was so excited to make something with them! I love that this dish was able to showcase their beautiful color alongside the orange carrots (tossed with some cute tiny yukons for good measure). They came out very tender and sweet. Absolutely divine. I may or may not have made these 3 times this week. Maybe it was a mind game…but I’m almost convinced the purple carrots tasted better.

These are definitely going on my list alongside Butternut Squash with Sage for great Thanksgiving side dish ideas!
